Joe; I used one of those whip finishers like you made for years; they work great. I now just use a piece of the thread I cut off earlier to pull my thread
under, but its not any better than the whip finisher you made.

I've used a loop of small diameter mono.....but that whip finisher looks like it might be something I need to try. Sometimes it seems like I need an extra
hand!

I have finally got my guides wrapped. Sorry to have to admit this openly, but this was not my favorite task of rod building. I would have to give myself an
acceptable or serviceable grade. That is to say, they won't be falling off. There is a tip, 4 snake guides and a stripping guide. I still have to wrap a
hook keeper.
Most of my difficulty was in the starting of the wrap. I just could not get a snug enough first wrap to start with. I'll probably get a few hisses and gufaws for admitting that I used a tiny dap of super glue to lock the garnet colored nylon wrapping thread to the blank. The next biggest problem was the transition from blank to guide foot. For every successful wrap there was several attempts before I finished one I could live with. I would say they would pass inspection at 5 foot OK. I normally don't let strangers get much closer to me than that on the water anyway. Stripping guide.
The next 3.
