I have an Eagle Claw "feather light"fly rod model FL 300 it is 6" 6" long, line size 2-6 lb lure wt.1/16-3/8 oz I'm not sure what line
wt to try on it I was thinking of 3wt first Then go up or down till it feels & flys good .It might be a cheap rod but I think ti would be fun with a gill
on the other end .It is full flex
Thanks for your input Dennis

It's glass and short, but it is rated as more of a 5/6 and is difficult to underline with the tippy action. I know cause I had one and dumped off on an
on-line auction. You can try it, but the guys on the glass site would probably tell you the same thing.

I had that rod in a 7' it was a 6wt. But they are very forgiving and can go up or down either way. I ended up finding a very old 7' (60's maybe)
version of the W&M featherlight it is a different blank and a different taper all together, it has become one of my favorites . But I think that the newer
ones are alot of fun to fish with and roll cast with ease..

Janus,
That older Featherlight was made in the USA, correct? What line does it carry? I remeber good reviews on these from guys the glass site. Les |

The 7'er is made for a 6wt, if I am not mistaken.

Yes made in the USA 2pc 7' rated for a 6 but is very forgiving. It's a different taper the new ones have a weird taper, all tip no middle and hard
to get to the butt section for any power..folds like a taco shell if you breath on it. But those are still fun to fish with. The older ones which are on a
MLW(I think) blank are a different more of a golden color and have a progressive taper with a brown aluminum reel seat and gold hardware and snake guides.

Just adding pics to show what featherlight and blank model # I was talking about. There was a discussion on another board about these and I finally got around to taking a pic. |

I like those Berkley compression drag 510 reels- kinda heavy, but definitely a work horse

Thanks. I like them too. The click will rattle your ribcage..balances the rod nice and I like the way it looks on it.
