You know, some folks go as far as to harvest the bottom ring of those champagne corks so they can build and turn grips.

I wonder if you could use wine corks for a cork and ring seat?

Thanks but I have an endless supply.;) Not all from my own personal use but close.

Fly Chef- Try it! | #6 | ||

If it were me, I try a champagne cork since it is wider and can be sanded easily.Yet it might be worth a try on the thinner part where the reel foot fits onto
the cork.
As you well know the good wine bottle cork used has been replaced over time with plastic, so it would be an interesting experiment in creating a drilled out interior wall and testing it see if it has sufficient strength. |

Looks like you could make a fighting butt with the fatter cork.....

Les, what is the diameter of the larger corks?

Andy,
It varies, but in measuring two of the mushroom-shaped champagne corks I found one to be top diameter 13/16" bottom 7/8" - the other is top 1 1/4" and bottom diameter 1 1/8" Les |

Ok, thanks. If you have a pair of corks with an OD of 1 1/8" or so, I would be interested in them.
