Like swapping out a perfectly good black Orvis BBS I with a bronze Orvis CFO I just because it matches the gold snake guides and wraps (and because it's a
truly classic style).

Damn Jerry! That is a sexy little combo! That reel complements that rod perfectly.

My favorite reel colors for bamboo are medium and dark bronze. Goes with just about anything. Don

Very nice!!
I got my Lemke seat in....and now when I place it next to the buckeye burl I want to use.....I can see maybe bluing the hardware......maybe even a bronze bluing to match the yellow tint in the burl and the English bronze guides...... David |

Bronze bluing? Where do you get that? I have seen some for iron rifle barrels but not for NS. Don

Don....
Check out this link....Chris Carlin uses Birchwood Casey's M38 on NS to get a nice mellow bronze tint. There's a picture of a few itmes he "bronzed" near the bottom of the page. http://www.bamboorodmaking.com/html/hardware_-_bluing.html I found a source for M38 in smaller sizes at a place called Arizona Sculpture. Ever heard of M38? David |

pkrotine wrote:I was a little worried because it weighs about 4/10 of an ounce more than the BBS I but it balances the Orvis 1 wt very nicely--right at the tip of the cork, and you really couldn't find anything that matches better than this one. Go for it! ;-) |

Thanks David! I did not know about that product. Plum Brown does not work on NS. I was just days ago experimenting with a more bronze look. This will be
perfect. Can you give me the date and section for the Carlin pix? For those not following David's hint, nickel silver is really brass and traditionally
brass black is used to oxidize it. But bronze is actually a more desireable color. I suspect all my next ferrules will get this treatment as white brass is
much too shiney. Don

Don.....
Not sure what you mean by date and section. I've read a lot of Chris's postings at rodbuildingforum and seen some of his stuff at bamboorodmaking.com. David |
