Antler is very difficult to work with. I managed to make it look pretty I think. The seat and handle are complete, the blanks are glued and curing. It is
coming along quickly. The blanks are so tiny it is almost like a toy.

Thanks for posting those pics J. Hope you are feeling better. The reel is just there for scale. I bought it off e bay. It has no markings, but works well. I
need a half of a 1 wt DT line to put on it.

Quote from Pacchef. "The blanks are sanded. The seat in the picture is not cut to the correct size. It will be on the finished rod."

I am letting the blanks cure right now, sorry I haven't communicated more on the forum lately. Do to economic circumstances I had to get a job, full time
for a couple weeks and then it goes to 3 days a week. Every time I think I'm out they pull me back in. Rod work is still getting done though. Tight lines.

I ordered the components today. Not sure if I am going to use a winding check and I decided to not use a hook keeper. I went with Arcane ferrules. Should I
blue the NS items or leave them alone? I will leave that decision up to the board. I am also building a wood case for the rod out of white oak. It should look
pretty slick.
On a side note, I went fishing many years ago with my cousins. We caught a bunch of gills in this little creek by their house. I always wondered what it was called and finally checked a topo map. It was called "Deer Creek". I was really happy to find that out. Andrew |

That just looks incredible. I, too, would be interested in seeing more pictures of that little reel.

Andrew, I could go either way with hardware. I think both polished NS and Blued look really good.

Andrew,
Where was that Deer Creek of your youth located? |

California foothills, I am from the Tahoe area. We used tiny frog poppers. It was too much fun.

Components are all here. Should get the varnish on this week if it is warm enough. I have decided no winding check or hook keeper. Bare bones and as light as
possible. I will also keep the silk wraps very simple and short. I got a great deal on Ferrules. If anyone is looking for NS ferrules try Mudhole.com. (I
don't work for them, nor do I get a price break if I mention their website)

I mounted the reel seat and handle, the ferrules were not up to my standards so I ordered a different set and am waiting patiently. I also started the case,
white oak scrap wood in a rectangular construction. Not pretty yet, but after it is finished it should be. Am still looking for a perfect reel for it, or a
half of a 1 wt DT for the tiny little reel in the picture.

I have a couple of Pfleuger Portages and could work a trade for one. The 2" Forbes Avon would be the lightest. Don

I mounted the ferrules. It was a pain finding them and they were spendy. 8/64ths is hard to come by. Oh well, they mounted perfectly and the rod is labeled and
has 2 coats of Man of War Spar on it. I will wrap the guides this week, then varnish the wraps. The case is coming along- it is real heavy for a little rod.
Made out of white oak lumber that a buddy donated to the cause.
