I was really interested in the Sharkskin thread we had going here--especially since I've never had a chance to try one, but Don mentioned the Airflo Ridge
lines in that thread and I *have* had a chance to try one or two of his and was pretty impressed.
The other day one came up on eBay and I snagged it for a great price and was excited to try it out when it arrived a few days ago. Unfortunately, the line was a WF4 (I would have preferred a 3 wt) but I went ahead and spooled it up on one of my BBS I's and overlined my Riffle 5'10" 3/4 with it.
I am *very* impressed! I have two other 4 wt lines I was comparing it to--a Cortland 444 Lazer and a Rio Trout Taper. The Ridge goes through the guides *much* faster that either of the other two lines. I've always been a big Cortland fan but I'd rate it a distant 3rd to these other two lines. The Ridge is just so much quicker through the guides and shoots amazingly well and the Rio, although not as slick as the Ridge, still performs much better for me than the 444. I'm now actively seeking Ridge lines in a 3 wt.
Have any of you tried these lines? I'd be interested in your opinions.
