Spent 2 days canoeing/fishing the Upper Cumberland River above the falls in Kentucky last weekend....It is a 28 mile 2 day float...Had a great time with my
son-in-law and his Father and a friend...the water was high and murky...the fishing was lousy..I was the only one to have a fish on and it broke the tippet on
a jump right beside the canoe...Son-in-said it was at least 3pds...but, my little 3wt handled the fish well, I just am not experienced enough to land a good
size fish on my fly equipment yet...I tried too hard and the tippet broke...Had a good time tho but, our first day we paddled almost 20 miles in slow moving
water before we found a good camping spot...I was wore out..but smiling as I got in my hammock and fell immediately asleep...a good float...wrong time of year
tho...We got back to Tn and the following Monday went fishing in a private pd and I caught 3 largemouth..biggest about 2 pds on my 3wt...I have picture of
fish and pond and will post them asap...I feel the need now for a shorter 3/4 weight and will be putting it on my wish list...the pond was crowded casting and
wish I had brought my 6.5 2wt...but, I am learning my limitations and the limitations of my equipment more as I continue to explore this UL flyfishing with a
passion I have not felt for years...Ya gotta love this stuff!!......Rob
