I went Friday and purchased a TFO Finesse 2wt 7'3" on sale at Sportsman's Warehouse ($148) and went yesterday to a local shop that was having a sale to buy the Orvis BBS I which included Sage DT 2wt line for $119. I think I got a "screamin" deal! I was ready to go to my "home waters" today but I am a bit under the weather so I'll have to suffice with practice casts today. I promise to post my first catch for all to see! My fly of choice will be an RS2 either 20 or 22. Doug in Colorado |

I like the way you phrased your post - "I got my first 2 wt.". This shows that
you're a person of keen foresight and recognize this will not be your *last* 2 wt. Just the first in a series as the disease progresses ;-) We will also
expect more posts from you such as "I got my first 1 wt.", and "I got my first 0 wt."

I did go and try the 2wt last Friday. (see my post re: My home water). I wasn't really very successful. I was getting knots in the tippit. I bought some
Orvis braided leader ($$$ ouch!) and will try that - maybe tomorrow. I was getting caught on brush with about half of my back-stroke while casting. It
wasn't too windy, but there was some. I guess I was trying to push the 2wt too much. I don't think there is anything wrong with the equipment. Operator
error since I am just starting.
The rod, reel and line work very nice on my lawn. I do find that the fly tends to just float down - not plop like a 5wt! My challenge is getting the leader and tippit to be fully extended with the fly making a nice presentation. The leader and tippit were kind of bunched. I hope that the braided leader will help that by not having the "memory curl". I'll keep the forum posted. Doug |

Doug,
I would try two things stretch the the line and throw a simple roll cast. See if that helps. |

That is a handsome outfit at a great price....I too am new to this UL flyfishing and It is a bit difficult at times...All I can suggest...keep at it...I am
getting better casting and better informed everyday...One thing I will share...you will come home with a smile on your face even after a "bad"
fishing day, if there is such a thing....Rob
