Climax line telemark? |
Lead | ||
|
Anyone use any of the Climax(cortland) brand lines? I just got some and it's a green line but there is a different colored blue section about 30-40ft from
and the blue section is about 3ft. long. According to the literature this is called the telemark spot that tells you when to pick up for maximum loading. I
know all of this is kinda marketing BS and it's best to just go through trial an error. But, I can't figure out if you hold the blue part in your hand
and cast or you pick up when it is outside the tip...it's called the wind taper. Just curious if anyone has used this stuff before.

I have one of those lines in a 6wt, but never paid attention to the color change. It's really useless in my mind. Don't care much for the line either.

I got some too in saltwater config for 7WF. I like the line a lot, but never pay attention to the change in color. Perhaps it would be a different story if it
were a hot pink tip.

Right I was just wondering about the reasoning for actually having such a thing. I think the SA headstart line has like a "bump" in the line where
it's their idea of the optimal loading but this one seemed a bit undefined...I like the line it casts and caught me some fish this week so can't
complain.

This can actually be an important feature in sight fishing in salt water. The idea is that you pick up the full 30' of line and you've got full AFFTA
loading so you don't false cast. I like to use this as a point where I let the line hang out of the tip - less false casts = faster casts to moving
targets. It's important on lines above 8wt when fishing at distance, I can't imagine it being germane in the context of ultralight gear. I hold the
transition point.
