This little rod was one of Mr. Shenk's personal rods and a bit unusual in that it is a two-piece - most were one piece. It was built in 1999 and is marked
for a #3/4 line. Ed writes in one of his books that the little rods should not be "noodlely" and this one certainly isn't, being able to throw a
DT4 about as far as one would like.

Wow! Talk about a "keeper"! Did you get the rod directly from Ed? It is a great looking build--I really like the grip/reel seat.

Duff,
You're very fortunate to have met Ed, and to be able to enjoy this rod has got to be a treat. Like Jerry stated the grey reel seat matches well with the Hardy reel. I've always been a sucker for those yellow blanks. Do you think it's a Lami? Les |

Duff that rod is VERY cool, as is the signed book. Ed is a legend in PA. I haven't heard of a 2pc rod from Ed, this is a first for me.

Jdub, yes, I was lucky enough to get the rod directly from Mr. Shenk.
Les, Ed said that he used to get Lamiglas blanks in lots of 25 made for him. I don't know if this one is a Lami, but I would guess that it is. The grip and reel seat are definitely tiny, but with a little reel such as the Hardy Flyweight, it seems to feel just right. Ed told me that the cap and ring set was one of several that he received back in the 60's from Art Neumann of Wanigas. |
